چکیده

A series of experiments were performed to evaluate the performance of experimental detergents. Initial assessment of cleaning efficacy was done using a standardized milk soil (whole milk inoculated with bacteria) sprayed onto stainless steel test chips and allowed to incubate. These test chips were cleaned under controlled conditions in the laboratory. The residual milk soil was assessed using ATP bioluminescence techniques. Subsequent testing involved a switchback experiment in the UW milking parlor with a control detergent and the experimental product. Cleaning efficacy was evaluated using ATP bioluminescence methods as well as the following bacterial assessment of bulk tank milk: Standard Plate Count (SPC), Preliminary Incubation Count (PI) and Laboratory Pasteurized Count (LPC). The relationships between the various tests of cleaning performance were investigated. Recommendations for field tests of milking machine sanitation are presented.

Effectiveness of ATP bioluminescence to assess hospital cleaning: a review

INTRODUCTION Contamination of hospital surfaces plays an important role in the transmission of several healthcare-associated microorganisms, therefore methods for evaluating hospital surfaces' cleaning gain particular importance. Among these, there are visual inspection, quantitative microbiology, fluorescent markers and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) bioluminescence. The latter seems to provide ...

Assessment of hospital daily cleaning practices using ATP bioluminescence in a developing country.

UNLABELLED Visual assessment of surfaces may not be enough to document the level of cleanliness in the hospital setting. It is necessary to introduce quantitative methods to document the results of this practice. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy of hospital terminal cleaning procedures, using an adenosine triphosphate (ATP) bioluminescence method in a teaching hospital. METHOD During 2008...

Validation of ATP bioluminescence as a tool to assess antimicrobial effects of mouthrinses in an in vitro subgingival-biofilm model

OBJECTIVES The aim of this investigation was to evaluate whether the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) bioluminescence method is an appropriate tool to assess the efficacy of antiseptic mouthrinses in terms of quantitative reductions of total viable microbial counts in mixed biofilm populations in vitro. STUDY DESIGN Three mouthrinses, containing respectively, chlorhexidine and cetylpyridinium chl...

Recent Update on Microbiological Monitoring of Gastrointestinal Endoscopes after High-Level Disinfection

Endoscopy-related infections are important contributors to nosocomial infections. Endoscope reprocessing according to standard guidelines ensures high-level disinfection and prevents endoscopy-related infections. Microbiological surveillance may help in monitoring the effectiveness of gastrointestinal endoscope disinfection. The process involves microbial cultures and non-culture methods such a...

Continuous-flow ATP amplification system for increasing the sensitivity of quantitative bioluminescence assay.

We constructed a novel ATP amplification reactor using a continuous-flow system, and this allowed us to increase the sensitivity of a quantitative bioluminescence assay by controlling the number of ATP amplification cycles. We previously developed a bioluminescence assay coupled with ATP amplification using a batch system. However, it was difficult to control the number of amplification cycles....
